Luna Goes to Taipei (B1-B2 English)

Luna was a small grey cat with big green eyes and a love for travel.

She had just come back from Milan, where she ate pasta, walked through beautiful piazzas, and watched the sun set over the old city.

It was wonderful. But now, Luna was ready for something new.

She wanted to explore Asia.

Her friends were very excited when she told them.

“You have to go to Taipei!” said her friend Marco, a fluffy orange cat who loved food.

“Taipei is amazing. The night markets, the temples, the mountains — it’s all so beautiful.”

“And the bubble tea!” said her friend Sofia, a small white cat with a stripy tail.

“Luna, you must drink bubble tea. It’s a specialty from Taiwan. You cannot go to Taipei and not try bubble tea.”

Luna had heard of bubble tea before. It was a cold drink with little chewy balls at the bottom, made from tapioca.

People loved it. She was curious.

“Okay,” said Luna with a smile. “Taipei it is.”

A few days later, Luna arrived in Taipei. The city was busy and full of life. There were scooters everywhere. The streets smelled of delicious food.

Colourful signs lit up the evening sky.

Luna walked slowly, taking everything in.

She visited Longshan Temple first. It was old and peaceful. People were praying quietly. The smell of incense filled the air.

Luna sat for a moment and felt very calm.

Then she took the metro to Elephant Mountain.

She climbed the steps slowly — there were many of them! But when she reached the top, she stopped and stared.

The whole city was below her. Taipei 101, the famous tall tower, rose into the sky.

The sun was setting, painting everything in orange and pink.

“Oh,” Luna whispered. “This is beautiful.”

After coming down from the mountain, Luna was tired and thirsty. She walked through a quiet street and saw a small shop with a long queue outside.

That could only mean one thing.

Bubble tea.

Luna joined the queue. She looked at the menu. There were so many choices!

Taro, matcha, brown sugar, strawberry, classic milk tea…

“Classic milk tea with tapioca pearls, please,” she said.

“Not too sweet.”

The person behind the counter smiled and nodded. A few minutes later, Luna was holding a large cup with a thick straw.

She took a long sip.

The tea was smooth and creamy. The pearls were soft and chewy. It was cold and sweet and perfect.

“Sofia was right,” Luna said to herself. “This is wonderful.”

She sat on a small bench outside and watched the people walk by. Families, students, tourists, locals.

Everyone seemed happy.

Luna felt happy too.

That night, back at her small hotel, Luna wrote in her travel notebook.

Day one in Taipei. A temple, a mountain, a city at sunset, and the best drink I have ever tasted.

Asia, I think we are going to get along very well.

She closed the notebook and yawned.

Her green eyes grew heavy.

Outside, the city was still alive. Somewhere, a night market was just getting started.

But that was for tomorrow.

Luna curled up, tucked her tail around her nose, and fell fast asleep.

Goodnight, Luna. Goodnight, Taipei.
